Elementary II Montessori (Maternity) Teaching Position: Oscar Mayer Magnet

Oscar Mayer Magnet School (within Chicago Public Schools) is searching for a E2 Maternity Leave Teacher.  Candidate must have an appreciation of the Montessori philosophy, and the willingness to implement the Montessori Curriculum.  Teacher will work with 30 multiage students ranging from 4th-5th grade.  This teacher will be working both with the Montessori curriculum and the Common Core Standards.  Many of the materials utilized in this classroom are teacher created.  This position requires time spent outside of the classroom to collaborate with their colleagues, create instructional materials, participate in parent education nights, complete training, etc.  A high level of organizational skills are needed to manage the multi age classroom, assess students needs, differentiate with individual work plans and progress monitor 30 students individually.

This is a maternity leave position.  It will begin end of April/mid May until the end of the 2014-15 school year.  It will extend into the 2015-16 academic year.

Training/Certifications:
Type 03 teaching certificate required, proficient in balanced literacy and guided reading instruction, proficient in 4-5th grade math instruction,  proficient in administering the Fountas and Pinnell assessment, understanding of Common Core Standards for grades K-5th grade in both language arts and mathematics.  Experience teaching science through the use of curriculums like FOSS Science.   

Teaching position requires an understanding of both Montessori and International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program.  Montessori certification a plus, but not required.
